I got a back molar pulled Tue. morning. It still hurts, does anybody know how long it normally takes to start

feeling better. I have had teeth pulled before but it was a long time ago and this is hurting pretty bad. I don't believe it is a dry socket but I guess it could be. The dentist couldn't pull it b/c it was pretty badly decayed and the root on one side was curved although he tried, but eventually he took a drill and cut it in half and then pulled each side. I think that is why is hurts so darn bad but if you have had a tooth pulled how long did it take you to start feeling better?

The real truth of the matter is that you may have a dry socket! This is VERY comon!! Especially in an OS case!

If Advil does not work within 30 min or so of taking or you have pain with cold air you should call the dentinst and let them know you think you have a dry socket. They will apply a medicated dressing and before you leave the office you will feel great again!!

If the Advil works for the most part, get a bag of frozen peas(they mold to the face best) or an ice pack if you own one and lay a lt weight towel on it and lay your face on that! 30 min on and 30 min off!!

Good luck!!
Reply:Valarie seems to know..I would definitely call the dentist asap.

It does sound like dry sockets...so no food..try scrambled eggs or yogurt for the weekend...dry sockets usually need to be addressed immediately...and handled properly.
Reply:All the tissue around the extraction site is very pissed off. You might put some Ambesol on the gums around the socket, and some ice on the effected jaw. A pain reliever, like aspirin, would be good too...but if it's night there, you might try Exedrin PM, and try to get some sleep!

Feel better soon!
