Want to buy a stereo system for around £100?

I've given myself a budget for a new music system of around £100, what's the best I could get for that?

I'm just looking for something with pretty good sound quality and maybe has sockets for extensions like a turntable or ipod dock, bigger speakers.

D you think thi one would be ok? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/pa...

I have an old Sony RX77S (FROM 1998)In silver that works fine that is just collecting dust. I am going to put it in the bin next week if I cant find a home for it. If you live local you can collect it if you want it for FREE. It does not have all the latest gismo,s but it Plays 3 CD,s and tapes. and is 160 watts. Free for local collection. If it is still here next Wednesday it goes in the bin.
Reply:Looks okay-ish, but also looks a bit tacky. But if thats all you can afford, it should do the trick for you
Reply:Stay well clear of Goodmans! It's poorly made tat, I'm afraid.

The problem is you're not going to get much for £100 (my speaker cables cost more than that - each) and good sound quality is right off the menu at that price. You need to spend around £400-£500 for something basic, but with reasonable sound quality.

Check out the Richer Sounds website for some ideas.
Reply:nah thanks
Reply:Your Argos 'maybe' is okayish. It is not one of the better brands out there but it will do the job for you.

I am suggesting an alternative, you could always spend the money on a set of decent speakers for your PC.
