What is the most ideal AMD Athlon XP CPU temperature for better performance??
this is fine for an athalon xp

max operating temps is 85 degrees c - i had one recently whixch ran at 71 idle

(bad thermal grease on my part) if anything get a new cooler rathe rthan the stock fan
Reply:It comes down to money. But if you didn't want to spend $100 for a new CPU, motherboard, RAM, then you probably don't want to spend that much on a water cooling setup or even half that much on a run of the mill heat pipe cooler.

For almost free (mostly your time and some things around the house), you can rig up some ducts made out of paperboard (like cereal boxes) inside the computer to feed the cooler air from outside the case directly to the CPU cooler.
Reply:Most ideal temp is probably your room temp but that's not going to happen (unless your computer is off ;)).

You need to increase the clock a little bit, do a benchmark test (AKA burn in test) and if it passes (no errors or your computer does not freeze) increase it a little bit more. At one point you will start having stability problems so go back the next lowest stable overclock.

Search for burn in test software here
