97 Cavalier Air-conditioning Compressor Not Turning On!!!?

I have a 97' Cavalier and my Air-conditioning is not working.

Symptoms:

1. The compressor does not come on.

2. No cool air coming from vents.

Checked:

1. I have the fan on high

2. The temp on cool.

3. Checked the vent controls on various settings.

3. The button for A/C on, green light comes on.

4. Checked all fuses.

5. Checked relay under the hood, (swapped the fuel pump

relay with the A/C relay being the same relay, works)

6. Jumpered the two upper relay sockets to test compressor,

Compressor comes on when jumpered.

I am figuring the issue is BEFORE the relay, being the relay works fine for the Fuel Pump. Anyone have any idea as to what is wrong?

Any ideas?

check your pressure switch, in your receiver dryer. unplug and paper clip the connector.
Reply:Use a 12V test light or inexpensive volt/ohm meter [VOM] to see if both of the required input slots for the relay are live. Remember there is the blade for signal voltage %26amp; another for the pass through voltage, both12V. If either is dead, chase that circuit, if not, check to be sure the slot for ground is grounded [use ohm-meter or test light from +]. There should be a diagram on the side of the relay. A Haynes or Clymer manual might help.
