Here are my stats : ASUS M2A -VM- HDMI socket am2 atx motherboard with
corsair dual channel twinx 2048 mb 800 MHz ddr2
amd athalon 64 4200 2.2 GHz, Ultra 600 W PS, My temp never goes above 38 C while playing wow..... Please dont just say on board graphics cards suck. I am not looking for 100 fps more of 40-60 fps all the time........ATI drivers updated............. Thanks
I play wow and my fps sucks 10-15 Help!?
Bottom line:
Either get a more powerful graphics card, or turn down the video display options within WoW.
Reply:Sorry to say, but even running on the lowest settings, the on-board video capabilities will still only support low frame rates. I had the nVidia 6100 on-board and was lucky to get 15 fps on the lowest settings. I ended up buying a nVidia 8600GT based card and my rates go as high as 65 fps (still occasionally dips when flying into a city). The card I picked up was about $115 (well worth it for the amount of time I'll play WoW).
If you really want to squeeze more from the video card, ensure all video settings in the game are set to the minimum setting and increase the amount of physical memory in the system so that you never have the OS/applications competing for physical memory with the on-board video.
Oh, have an older PC running the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (AGP 4x card w/ 128MB) and although the rate is lower (forget exactly what it is, but want to say it is around 30), it is pretty good to play as long as the settings aren't too high.
WoW doesn't require an ultra high end video card, but on-board won't give you a satisfactory game experience. I have a few guild friends that are sticking with the on-board (financial issues) and they always skip playing any raid group instances/raids and generally complain about lag even in many party instances.
Reply:lol onboard graphics sucks
Reply:its true, having on board graphics is holding your system back, it shares its resourses with everything else. Even a cheap agp or pci-express card will show significant results. Check your local best buy weekly ad for great chipsets under $100
On the other hand if you want to stick with the on board graphics, try changing the resolution to somthing smaller and details to low, no shadows and such, if 40-60 fps is all you care about.
Reply:I tried wifi vs. cat5 connection and could see a difference. My inet access is 6 mbps. I suggest checking your online speed.
good luck to you! wow is fun.
